Travel Project First Quarter 2025

This is the third week of traveling to Oregon for this project.

Travel: I flew out on Monday and returned on Friday.  My flight to the client was uneventful.  On time arrival but the most difficult part is then driving about four hours to the client.  A clinic is going live on a new EMR so I am doing go live support.  This means much walking around the clinic to help users.  I have loved working with the people at this organization.  They are wonderful humans.

Accommodation:  I’m staying at an Airbnb this week.  I don’t usually stay in Airbnb but the hotels in this town have low ratings so I am told by my team to NOT stay in the hotels. I am staying in a 2 bedroom apartment.  It’s a quadplex building.  It’s really close to the clinic, which is great.  However, the neighborhood is less than desirable.  There is an odor in the apartment that was difficult to tolerate.  I don’t know if it’s because they do allow pets but yeah, that definitely was not a good fit for me. The towels have seen better days.  Silverwares could use an upgrade.  Parking was right outside of the building and free so that was a plus.

Food options:  On Wednesday, we went to a food truck to try their fish and chips.  It was good.  On Thursday, we went to a bar and grill for lunch.  I had a fish and chicken taco for lunch.  I enjoyed it.  I left the client around 5:30p on Thursday so I didn’t get dinner until about 9:30pm.  I used DoorDash.  Sadly, there were only a few options since most restaurants were closed.  I didn’t appreciate that the restaurant replaced one item for another because they ran out of what I ordered.

I think the go live went pretty well.  Nothing too out of the ordinary.   The people are the best feature of this project.
