Travel Project First Quarter 2024: Week 3
Finally, my work travel flights are looking up. My flights out were close but fortunately, I was able to make all my connections. I made it to the client site on time. The weather is nice. I left to go check in at the hotel. The check in process should’ve forewarn me of what to come. I asked for a higher level floor and in a quiet area She said only third floor is available. I went up and it was only two rooms from the elevator so I called the front desk, she put me on hold. I waited a long time so decided to just go down to ask. She was not happy to see me. She gave me another room. I went back up and the room was exactly 2 rooms away from the elevators on the other side. At this point, I am like just go with it. I get into the room. The tile floor in the kitchen is sticky. The carpet is old and stained. The tile floor in the bathroom is also sticky. There are three plastic hangers in the closet. Everything else is tolerable. I took out my laptop to continue working. The chair is really low and I am unable to adjust the height. I tell myself it’s only one week, I can stay here for a few days. After two hours of working, my upper back is hurting me. I tell myself, just ask for another chair. I went down and the line is very long so I gave up. I canceled the rest of my stay. Once I made up my mind to find another hotel, I booked another hotel, got my clothes ready for the next day and went to bed.
The next morning, I woke up early and checked out of Staybridge. That evening, I checked in at a Hilton. The check in was very promising. I am on the top floor in a very quiet section. The room was good. The only complaints that I have are the shower head doesn’t work and the TV remote doesn’t work. However, compared to the other hotels, it’s tolerable so I finished my week at this Hilton.
On Friday, my flights are as scheduled. First flight goes as plan. Second flight goes as plan. I made it home that evening. Yes, things are looking up for me so here is hoping for future mundane travel plan for the rest of this project.
